2006-2007 The Grandstanders Sports Booster Club's mission is to promote and support all Glens Falls Athletic Programs. Our organization has actively supported these programs for the past 30 years by providing financial assistance and a volunteer "workforce" to help provide a quality experience for our student athletes. Most of the money generated is through memberships and sponsorships, while the remainder is raised from profits at Concession stands, 50/50 ticket sales, and athletic apparel sales. These monies are used each year to provide Varsity Team pictures to all the Varsity Team members and Coaches, the purchase and updating of Championship banners, Championship Varsity Team T-Shirts, a banquet each year to honor our Senior Varsity Athletes, four (4) to six (6) $500 scholarships for Senior Athletes, as well as "special" projects. Some of our recent projects have included the purchase and restoration of an electric golf cart at Morse Fields, exercise and training equipment in the Weight Room, a new headphone system for the football program, a new scorers table for the gymnasium, a podium for the gym and auditorium, as well as the upgrading of the sound system in the gym. The Grandstanders are also yearly sponsors of the prestigious George Muse Track Invitational, the Holiday Ice Hockey Tournament, and the Boys and Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament. Our focus this year will be the continuation of the upgrading of our athletic facilities including a sign at the Morse Complex, which will have a numbered diagram of all of the athletic fields as well as a daily events board to help visiting teams and all spectators to easily locate playing sites for each contest. Another focus will be on the purchase and installation of a large flagpole at the Complex. Nearly 60% of all Glens Falls students participate in some form of organized school sport. All students who participate in sports benefit. Sports help develop confidence, cooperation, dedication and a sense of belonging. These traits enable the athletes to become successful in everyday life. Never has if been more important for parents, friends, neighbors and the community to support its school and student athletes. The Grandstanders urge everyone to contribute time and / or resources to ensure the continued excellence of these valuable programs. Monthly meetings are
held on the first Monday of each month from September through June at
7:00 p.m. in the High School Conference Room. Your attendance is
welcome.
